Our Book Values Pledge

We understand there is nothing worse than starting a book and being surprised at the objectionable content in it. All our books will meet these standards, which are based off of the ones Christian bookstores meet.

Publishing Today

Although publishing houses in the past knew their market and developed rules that protected that market and guaranteed content would not be offensive to readers in that market, in today’s publishing industry where anyone can self-publish and vanity presses without standards are popping up everywhere, terms like “sweet romance,” “inspirational,” and “Christian book” are used sporadically. This causes much disappointment and backlash from those who purchase these books and find objectionable material in them. This page is meant to inform our readers of what they can expect inside our books.

Religion

Our books are all written from a non-denominational, Christian worldview or do not mention religion. Our Christian fiction unapologetically contains references to the Bible, characters explaining or teaching other characters about Christian values, and characters who frequently pray and believe God will give them guidance and help. We strive to accurately reflect a Christian walk by real, but mostly solid, Christians.

Offensive Topics

Although Christian characters do not drink, smoke, do drugs, gamble, or use vulgar language—they may have done these in the past before becoming Christian and the problems they had with these vices may be discussed in the book. All our books that are not specifically Christian fiction may contain minimal references to these vices.

Sex and Violence

There is no graphic violence or graphic sex described in any book. Anything beyond kissing is done entirely off-screen and not described or referenced with any level of detail. Pre-marital sex is not promoted. Some characters may have experienced rape or physical abuse and some may have been in adulterous relationships, but this is only lightly referenced and off-screen. All other forms of Biblically condemned sex are not included or referenced. The women in our books enjoy being women and the men enjoy being men, but our characters have diverse interests (i.e., a woman may be a sheriff and a man may be a dancer). Women and men only dress as a member of the opposite sex when necessary and not by preference.

Language

Offensive language is generally avoided in all of our books. Offensive language, if used, is only hinted at through made up words or symbols (i.e., Klepft, %$!&), by reference (i.e., “he swore”), through euphemisms (i.e., darn), or as a last resort when none of the above will work for narrative or quotation purposes, through dashes (i.e., sh-).

Supernatural

Some of our works, especially our fantasy books, may refer to supernatural, mythical, or fantasy creatures: vampires, werewolves, minotaurs, zombies, manticores, etc. We do not promote or use “good magic” in any of our books.

Topics We Do NOT Include

We believe all are created equal. Our books do not promote any cultures or physical characteristics as being superior to any other. We only support relationships between one man and one woman. We accept that we live in a fallen world where sin happens, and sin as defined by the Bible may occur in many forms in our books but it is not glorified or promoted as being “normal.” We do not include promotional viewpoints or debate points from any religion, including Judaism and wicca, except for Biblical Christianity. We do not promote or include gratuitous violence in any of our books. We do not support or promote a single political view in any book. We do not support disproven or poorly supported theories being passed off as non-fiction “truth.”
